So far this season on Grey’s Anatomy, our favorite couples have faced nothing but drama and emotional turmoil — and, in turn, so have we. So it’s high time we celebrated the couples who make it work, and to us, that’s totally the unstoppable duo that is Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek (Patrick Dempsey). They deserve a little recognition, right?
We certainly think so, and it seems so does creator Shonda Rhimes!
According to E! Online’s spoiler chat, we’ve got a walk down memory lane for the happy surgeons-turned-parents coming up after the winter hiatus. In Episode 13, we can expect “sweet reminders of what MerDer has been through together.”
Considering the fact that we loved the throwback to the prom (and everything that went down that night, i.e. Mer’s panties on the bulletin board) in Episode 4 (“Puttin’ on the Ritz”) earlier this season, we can’t wait! More McDreamhouses made of candles, anyone?
One of our favorite Meredith and Derek moments this season — thus far, anyway — was when Derek decided to take a step back from surgery in favor of more daddy duties so that Meredith could have her time in the spotlight as she researches the printing of portal veins on the hospital’s shiny new 3D printer.
Besides, you know what they say: the couple who makes major medical advances together stays together!
What do you think Mer and Der’s walk down memory lane will include? Sound off below!

“Grey’s Anatomy” is bringing big drama to ABC for the mid-season finale, and now fans are being given some new scoop on the big episode. On Saturday, Nov. 23, Spoiler TV shared a photo from the set of the series, and it shows off the church for April and Matthew’s wedding. The site also shared some teasers from the cast about the big episode. The mid-season finale is “Grey’s Anatomy” episode 10.12 titled “Get Up, Stand Up.”
The cast of this ABC series has been filming the mid-season finale in recent days, and it is promising to be a huge episode. Jessica Capshaw, Jesse Williams, and Jerrika Hinton all went to their Twitter to tease the filming of the mid-season finale. Hinton said that she was filming a scene that fans would want to watch over and over again. Jesse Williams offered his own tease for the episode, and Capshaw teased the beautiful location the cast was filming in. As for Ellen Pompeo, she shared a photo of a horse on her Instagram.
Wetpaint Entertainment also shared a tweet from Jason George that revealed his is involved in the filming of the mid-season finale as well. He is the man behind Ben on this series, and Ben and Bailey are in the middle of a rough patch.
Looking at the tweets and the set photos, Jerrika Hinton and Jesse Williams were not going to attend April’s wedding to Matthew. Williams stars as Avery on the series, and he thought him attending April’s wedding would be awkward. Could Hinton be teasing a showdown between April and Stephanie? Or will it be Stephanie and Jackson that finally have it out over April? Fans will have to tune in to find out if April makes it down the aisle.
“Grey’s Anatomy” will continue to air on ABC on Thursday nights.

Better savor the last three Grey’s Anatomy episodes airing this year… because we’ll have a while to wait before the second half of Season 10 returns in 2014.
ABC touts that the show will return from its midseason hiatus on February 27, 2014.
Why such a long break? The reasons are twofold. Grey’s, along with most scripted broadcast series, doesn’t air episodes during the holidays, since ABC wants you to spend time with your loved ones during this joyous season. Ha! Just kidding. ABC would probably prefer you in front of the telly but knows that everyone is too busy with the holidays to tune in.
But ABC is also putting off the returns of a lot of its hits to try out new shows in their timeslots. For example, new cooking competition The Taste will occupy Grey’s Anatomy’s Thursday night roost — airing from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. starting on January 2.
Back in August, ABC announced that it would split Grey’s into two streaks of 12 episodes each. That means that Season 10, Episode 12 — entitled “Get Up, Stand Up” — will be the highly-anticipated mid-season finale. It’s set to air on December 12.
We’ll be in serious withdrawal after that installment, but we guess having nonstop Grey’s action this spring is worth the wait!
When Bailey’s (Chandra Wilson) husband, Ben (Jason George) made his return, we thought she’d be thrilled, but it turns out, it’s the opposite — instead of being excited that she gets to see her husband every day (at home and at work), she’s mad that he dropped out of his intern program to move back to Seattle.
And being that Bailey’s acting very decidedly un-Bailey lately, we’re assuming some of that has to do with Ben’s return, right?
Maybe — especially since we know Jason’s back on set this week… and we know that they’re filming the midseason finale this week!
On Wednesday, Jason tweeted, “On set of @GreysABC and starting to get nervous about making it to tonight’s show of #12AngryMen. #ItWillWorkOut.”
Sidenote: In case you didn’t know, Jason’s starring in a production of the classic movie, 12 Angry Men, about prejudice in the legal system in the fifties.
So now that we know Jason’s going to be on our screens way more often, we hope we get to find out what Bailey’s going through soon — and some resolution for her and her husband! Whatever’s happening, we know it’s going to be super dramatic. This is Grey’s Anatomy, after all. Please, please, please let them work this one out. We couldn’t bear to see Bailey go through another divorce!
What do you think the drama between Ben and Bailey will be? Let us know below!
