As if the season-ending shooting episode weren’t groundbreaking enough, the resurgent Grey’s Anatomy is now going in the opposite direction: planning a musical episode for later this season, ABC reps confirm. Though specifics are under wraps, the show will make good use of Tony winner Sara Ramirez’s Broadway pipes, though it will feature unexpected performances as well. And don’t expect show-stopping showtunes: exec producer Shonda Rhimes tells TVGuide.com, “Part of the way I figured out that we could do this was to take the songs that our show has made iconic and have them be sung by our cast members, as opposed to singing Broadway songs or singing some songs by a known artist. We’re simply singing songs that Grey’s Anatomy has made famous.” So get ready for an indie adult-contemporary fest full of Snow Patrol, Ingrid Michaelson, The Fray, Mumford & Sons and the like.

Hello everyone!

I received an e-mail this morning, informing me that a new Grey’s Anatomy webisode series, entitled “Seattle Grace: Message of Hope” has premiered on ABC.com! Each webisode will premiere on Thursdays at 9pm ET / 6pm PT on ABC.com, in conjunction with ABC’s broadcast airing of Grey’s Anatomy.

The first webisode of the series, which was directed by Kevin McKidd is already online! Click here to watch!

This humorous six-part webisode series, sponsored by Carma Laboratories, Inc. whose Carmex® Moisture Plus ultra hydrating lip balm is integrated into the storyline, follows Chief Richard Webber (James Pickens, Jr.) and his staff including Dr. Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd), Dr. April Kepner (Sarah Drew), and Dr. Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) as they attempt to rebuild Seattle Grace-Mercy West’s image in the wake of last year’s shooting.

When Chief Webber’s media blitz backfires, the board decides to take the effort to the next level. Much to their chagrin, Webber and his staff are now at the whim of a public relations expert who is determined that a Seattle Grace-Mercy West sizzle reel will revitalize the hospital’s image. What’s a sizzle reel and why doesn’t Webber want anything to do with it? Do Drs. Hunt, Avery, and Kepner have what it takes to make the hospital shine? Tune in to each webisode to find out!

About the Web Series:

Hello everyone!

According to EW, James Tupper will be joining the cast in the upcoming and much anticipated Season 7! He will be appearing in the recurring role of Dr. Andrew Perkins, a trauma counselor brought in to help Seattle Grace recover from that nightmarish season-ending bloodbath.

The traumatized staffers at Seattle Grace are about to find the silver lining in May’s deadly hostage standoff: The shoulder they’ll be crying on belongs to James Tupper.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that the ex-Mercy doc (and Men in Trees hunk) is joining Grey’s Anatomy in the recurring role of Andrew Perkins, a trauma counselor brought in to help Seattle Grace recover from that nightmarish season-ending bloodbath.

Tupper is on board for at least two episodes.

Grey’s kicks off its seventh season on Sept. 23 with an episode titled “With You I’m Born Again.”

Hello everyone!

I’ve got good news for you! Jesse Williams and Sarah Drew who portrays Mercy West-ers Dr. Jackson Avery and Dr. April Kepner have been promoted to Series Regular on Grey’s Anatomy! Read on below to find out more! Special thanks to Arielle Moskow from TV Guide for the tip!

From TV Guide:

Jesse Williams has been upgraded to a series regular on Grey’s Anatomy, a show rep tells TVGuide.com.

The actor, who plays Dr. Jackson Avery, joined the ABC hit in October during the Seattle Grace-Mercy West Hospital merger story line as one of four new residents. Fellow newbie Sarah Drew (Dr. April Kepner) is currently in negotiations to return next season, according to Entertainment Weekly, which first reported Williams’ promotion.

Also from TV Guide:

Though she got Derek (Patrick Dempsey) shot in season finale of Grey’s Anatomy, Dr. April Kepner (Sarah Drew) is here to stay.

Drew, who also starred in Everwood, has been promoted to series regular, an ABC rep says.

The 29-year-old actress and co-star Jesse Williams are the remaining Mercy Westers returning next season. Both Nora Zehetner and Robert Baker’s characters were axed in the killer finale.

What do you think? Aren’t you glad that the doctors are sticking around? I can’t wait for the Season 7 promotional photo shoots to be released!
